(NEWSER) – A neighbor sums up the situation: "That's some sick people." An animal control deputy responding to concerns about a pig on the loose in Union County, NC, found something far more horrifying on Friday: a boy, 11, handcuffed to a porch, with a dead chicken wrapped around his neck. Foster parents Dorian Lee Harper, 57, and Wanda Sue Larson, 57, who also have four adopted kids, have been charged with child abuse and false imprisonment; their treatment of animals at their home also resulted in a cruelty charge, WCNC reports. Five children, ages 14, 13, 11, 9 and 8, have been removed from the home south of Monroe, NC.
Lady Gaga is poking fun at her many eccentricities with the help of "Saturday Night Live."
Taking on double-duty for the first time this weekend, she appeared as a frumpy Apple store worker defending her title of "genius" on a talk show hosted by Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. Her character wore a moppy brown wig, glasses and a baggy flannel shirt.
But Gaga took on more controversial parts of her pop stardom, as well. In another sketch, called "What?? The Worst Cover Songs of All Time," she played herself, playing herself, singing a terrible version of Madonna's "Express Yourself." Gaga has been criticized by Madonna, among others, for the similarities between the song and her own "Born This Way."
She also played herself in the distant future as a washed-up pop star, spilling to her super, Kenan Thompson, about her formerly glamorous life.
For her monologue however, Gaga reminded viewers of her raw vocal talent. Dressed in a 30s-style flapper dress, she sang a jazz version of her single "Applause" mashed-up with "New York, New York."
Watch the full episode:
For her musical performances, she sat behind a piano to sing "Gypsy" and also enlisted R. Kelly to perform their new song "Do What U Want." The two got hot and heavy on the stage, with the star dancing around and straddling the R&B singer.

The "NOT SEE" message on the vanity license plate was subtle enough to get past the DMV—but the meaning became pretty clear when San Diego school bus driver Shawn Calpito displayed it under a Nazi swastika on the back of his car. The California DMV has now canceled the plate and Calpito has been suspended from his job pending an investigation. The license plate was recently added but Calpito had apparently been driving around with the swastika on his car for months.
The pilot of a small plane off the coast of Miami radioed the control tower this afternoon with the worst kind of message: “Mayday! Mayday! Mayday! His door was ajar." He was referring to a passenger in his Piper PA 46 plane who he said fell into the ocean from about 1,800 feet, reports the Miami Herald. The pilot went on to land safely at the Kendall-Tamiami Executive Airport, and the Coast Guard and others are now searching for the passenger about a mile off shore, reports CBS Miami. (The incident follows one earlier this month on the West Coast in which a helicopter passenger jumped into the ocean an apparent suicide.)
Rihanna debuted her music video for "What Now" on Friday.
In the creepy clip, the singer does exorcism-like dance moves in contrasting black and white rooms.
The video was shot in a warehouse in the singer’s beloved Thailand.

(NEWSER) – Never let it be said that Pyotr Pavlensky isn't committed to his work. The 29-year-old Russian artist stripped naked and then nailed his scrotum to the cobblestone of Moscow's Red Square yesterday afternoon, just outside of the Lenin Mausoleum, the BBC reports. He sat that way for an hour and a half before police took him to the hospital. He faces up to 15 days in jail, on charges including "explicit contempt for society accompanied by swearing in public," and "humiliation," according to RT. Pavlensky called the piece "Fixation," and described it this way:
"It's not a bureaucratic mess that deprives society of its ability to act, but fixation on our own defeats and losses that nails us to the Kremlin's pavement stronger and stronger, creating an army of apathetic idols out of people."
