Florida Senator Marco Rubio is weighing in on Lil Wayne's recent rant at Stereo Live's NBA All-Star after party earlier this month. After dissing the Miami Heat, Wayne proclaimed he was the "new Tupac," referring to the late rap legend Tupac Shakur. TMZ caught up the hip-hop loving Florida senator and asked his opinion on Weezy's claims.
Senator Rubio went on to compare modern rappers with Tupac, who passed away in 1996 after a drive-by shooting. Rubio said he believes most modern rappers are "largely entertainers."
He admits that some rappers do have a message in their music, but they don't compare to Tupac, and said Pac simply used entertainment to try to inform us about what was going on.
The Republican Senator has never hid his love for hip-hop music. Rubio recently posted his playlist online, which included Tupac's "Changes," Kanye West's "Clique" and the Sugarhill Gang's "Rapper's Delight."
