Listen to Slick Rick on iHeartRadio
A New York Daily News reporter is catching tons of flak after questioning whether Slick Rick is a hip-hop "legend." The drama started after the News's Frank Isola Tweeted during the rapper's halftime performance of last night's Brooklyn Nets - New York Knicks game:
The Nets are claiming that halftime performer Slick Rick is a "Hip Hop legend." On what planet, exactly?

I heard that to torture prisoners at Guantanamo, the U.S. State Department played Slick Rick's Greatest Hits over and over.

What does one go about becoming a "hip hop legend." If Slick Rick can do it there is hope for all of us.

Despite numerous reports that Slick Rick's performance was indeed underwhelming, the Twitterverse quickly attacked Isola, with one Tweeter saying, "You obviously know nothing about hip-hop." But Isola refused to back down, responding:
I know of one hip hop legend named Rick. And that would be my guy Rick Ross. You may refer to him as Mr. Ross.

Finally Rick Ross himself jumped into the discussion, dissing both Isola and the fans who had boo'd Slick Rick, Tweeting, "[Screw] y'all, salute Slick Rick The Ruler!"
Isola's attempt at an apology to the Slick Rick fans out there also came in the form of a tweet:
To make it up to the 138 Slick Rick fans I've offended, I promise to buy his Christmas album tomorrow.
